My Journey into Psychotherapy
I have always been captivated by the complexity of human experience—the blend of joy, sorrow, and resilience that defines us all. This fascination, combined with a deep desire to help others navigate their challenges, inspired my path into psychotherapy and counselling.
I understand that starting therapy can be intimidating, but I deeply admire anyone who takes that courageous step. I believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate mental health care, regardless of their background, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
In my practice, empathy means walking alongside my clients through their darkest moments, offering a space where they feel truly seen and heard. I know from experience that a therapist's genuine care, openness, and support can significantly impact a client's sense of safety and self-worth, allowing them to grow and heal.
My Therapeutic Approach
I work integratively, drawing from multiple therapeutic traditions to create an approach tailored to your unique needs.
Client-Centred
You are the expert on your own life. I provide a supportive environment where we can explore patterns, understand emotions, and develop deeper self-awareness together.
Integrative
I combine humanistic, relational, Gestalt therapy, psychoanalysis, and transpersonal approaches. This flexibility allows me to tailor our work to what resonates most with you.
Holistic
I consider the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. As a Licensed Forest Therapy Practitioner, I understand the healing power of connecting with nature and our environment.
Trauma-Informed
As a certified Integrative Trauma Coach, I bring specialised understanding of how trauma affects us and evidence-based approaches to support healing.
The Philosophy Behind Zavia
Zavia (زاویہ) is an Urdu word meaning angle, perspective, or dimension. It's a simple word that carries profound meaning, especially when we think about the journey of therapy and personal growth.
The name is inspired by the writings of Ashfaq Ahmad, whose Zavia book series explores life through different lenses. His work reminds us that how we see something often matters more than what we're looking at.
When we're caught in emotional pain, our view narrows. We see only one angle — usually the most painful one. We tell ourselves stories that feel absolutely true: “I'll never get through this,” “There's something wrong with me,” “Things will never change.” But these aren't facts. They're perspectives — and perspectives can shift.
At its heart, therapy is about creating space to step back and see our experiences from a different angle. Sometimes we need to understand the past. Sometimes we need practical tools for the present. Sometimes we need space to simply be heard. Different angles, different tools — all in service of your growth.
You are not your anxiety. You are not your depression. You are not your trauma. These are experiences you're having, viewed from one particular angle. Therapy offers the possibility of stepping back, looking again, and discovering dimensions of yourself you couldn't see before.
