Cultural Identity & Belonging
Therapy that understands and honours your cultural background, helping you navigate identity, family expectations, and the complexity of belonging.
Get in TouchYou Don't Have to Explain Your Background
Growing up between cultures brings unique joys and challenges. You may have navigated different expectations at home and in the wider world, code-switched between languages and identities, or felt you didn't quite fit in either place.
As a South Asian therapist, I understand these experiences firsthand. I know what it's like to balance family honour with personal autonomy, to navigate intergenerational expectations, and to question where you truly belong.
In our work together, you won't need to educate me about your cultural context. I'll meet you with understanding, allowing us to go deeper into what matters most to you.
Areas I Can Help With
Bicultural Identity
Feeling caught between two worlds, struggling to integrate different parts of yourself, or questioning who you really are.
Family Expectations
Navigating pressure around career, marriage, lifestyle choices, or life decisions that may not align with your family's hopes.
Intergenerational Patterns
Understanding how your parents' and grandparents' experiences—including migration and loss—shape your own emotional landscape.
Cultural Shame & Guilt
Working through internalised messages about what you "should" be, especially when these conflict with your authentic self.
Racism & Discrimination
Processing experiences of prejudice, microaggressions, or discrimination and their impact on your mental health.
Faith & Spirituality
Exploring your relationship with religion, whether you're questioning, reconnecting, or integrating faith with other aspects of identity.
A Culturally Informed Approach
Cultural identity work isn't about choosing one culture over another. It's about understanding how your multiple influences shape you and finding a way to hold them authentically.
I bring both personal lived experience and professional training to this work. My integrative approach draws from Western therapeutic traditions while also honouring non-Western perspectives on healing.
Whether you're first, second, or third generation, I'm here to support you in making sense of your unique experience.
