Understanding Anger

Anger is a natural, healthy emotion—it tells us when our boundaries have been crossed or when something feels unjust. But when anger becomes overwhelming, frequent, or destructive, it can damage relationships, careers, and your sense of self.

Perhaps you find yourself exploding over small things, or seething with resentment that you can't express. Maybe your anger frightens you or those around you. You might have been told you have "anger issues" but not understood how to change.

Therapy helps you understand what your anger is really about, develop healthier ways to express it, and address the underlying emotions—often hurt, fear, or frustration—that fuel it.

Experiences I Work With

Explosive Anger

Intense outbursts that feel sudden and overwhelming, often followed by regret. Difficulty controlling reactions in the moment.

Chronic Irritability

A constant state of frustration and low-level anger, snapping at others, feeling constantly annoyed by life's everyday frustrations.

Suppressed Anger

Difficulty expressing anger at all, turning it inward instead. This can manifest as depression, passive-aggressive behaviour, or physical symptoms.

Relationship Conflict

Anger that particularly shows up in close relationships, leading to cycles of conflict, disconnection, or fear of intimacy.

How I Work with Anger

Rather than simply teaching you to suppress or control anger, we'll work together to understand what your anger is telling you and find healthy ways to express and channel it.

We'll explore the triggers and patterns behind your anger, including early experiences that may have shaped how you relate to this emotion.

You'll develop practical skills for managing intense emotions in the moment, while also doing deeper work on the underlying issues that fuel your anger.

What You Can Expect
